The journey
Into Syria’s mountains and coast.
A five-day off-road adventure across mountain trails, valleys, forests and coastal landscapes, combining historic sites, caves, mountain peaks and camping in carefully selected natural locations, with campfire meals and the freedom of the open route.
Route: Damascus → Al-Kahf Castle → Al-Sourani Dam → Jabal Al-Nabi Shith → Hawat Al-Jabab Cave → Al-Saqi Valley → Al-Smehiqa → Turkmen Cross → Balloran Dam → Kasab → Mashqita & Al-Bahloulia → Saladin Castle → Al-Shardoub Forest → Al-Ghab Plain → Damascus

Itinerary
Day by day
Day 01 · Damascus → Al-Kahf Castle → Jabal Al-Nabi Shith
The trail begins
Depart Damascus towards Al-Kahf Castle and explore the castle and its surroundings. Pause at the ruins of Al-Sourani Dam, then follow an off-road route to Jabal Al-Nabi Shith, one of the highest points in the Qadmous area. Sunset on the mountain and a traditional campfire dinner. Overnight: wilderness camping.
Day 02 · Hawat Al-Jabab Cave → Al-Saqi Valley → Al-Smehiqa
Caves, valleys and cold water
Pack up camp and head to Hawat Al-Jabab Cave, then explore Al-Saqi Valley, with the chance to swim in its very cold natural waters. Follow mountain trails to Al-Smehiqa and camp near the Cave Man site. Overnight: wilderness camping.
Day 03 · Al-Smehiqa → Coastal Mountains → Kasab
Towards the coast
Cross mountain and off-road trails towards the coast, passing Turkmen Cross and Balloran Dam with scenic stops. Set up camp at a high-altitude spot on the summit of Kasab with wide mountain views. Overnight: wilderness camping.
Day 04 · Kasab → Mashqita → Saladin Castle → Al-Shardoub Forest
Forests and castles
Continue along coastal mountain roads to Mashqita and Al-Bahloulia, visit Saladin Castle, then camp in Al-Shardoub Forest for a final campfire evening. Overnight: wilderness camping.
Day 05 · Al-Shardoub Forest → Al-Ghab Plain → Damascus
The way home
Descend through mountain trails overlooking the Al-Ghab Plain and continue back to Damascus, where the adventure ends.
The itinerary may be adjusted for weather, local conditions or safety, while keeping the character and main experiences of the journey.

This is an off-road adventure and nature experience, not a conventional leisure tour. The route includes mountain trails, wilderness camping and changing outdoor conditions.
Participants must follow the instructions of the professional drivers and mountain guide throughout the trip.

Good to know
Most nationalities can get a tourist visa on arrival at Damascus airport or the land crossings from Lebanon and Jordan. Some nationalities need pre-approval. See Travel info.
Bring US dollars in cash. International cards are not yet widely accepted in Syria.

Before you ask
Do I need camping experience?
No. All camping equipment is provided and set up with the team. You should be comfortable sleeping outdoors and with active days.
Can you pick me up from the airport?
Yes. Airport pickup and transfer to the starting point is included, either the day before or on the departure day, depending on your arrival time.
Is there internet?
Yes, Starlink internet is available during the trip.
